I’m thrilled to announce that Node.js 18 is now available! The V8 JavaScript engine has been updated to version 10.1, global fetch is now enabled by default, and a core test runner module has been added.
Node.js 18 will take over as our ‘Current’ release line from Node.js 17. Node.js 18 will be the ‘Current‘ release for the next six months before being upgraded to Long-term Support (LTS) in October 2022, according to the release schedule. The codename for the release will be ‘Hydrogen‘ after it is raised to long-term support.
More information on our release policy can be found at https://github.com/nodejs/release.
